Regional Assembly: Rodrigues goes to Poll on February 5, 2012

Elections for the Rodrigues Regional Assembly will be held on Sunday 5 February 2012, according to a communique issued by the State House on 27 December 2011.The President of the Republic, Sir Anerood Jugnauth, has upon the advice of the Prime Minister, Navin Ramgoolam, in accordance with Section (1) (a) of the Rodrigues Regional Assembly Elections Regulations 2002, issued writs for the elections.
The Nomination Day for filing of candidates is 21 January 2012 and polling will be held on Sunday 5 February 2012 in each of the six local regions.
The total number of voters in the six local regions in Rodrigues stands at 27776.
