
The Ministry of Education & Human Resources proposes to run the next session of Extension Classes in Practical Biology, Chemistry and Physics in State Secondary Schools from January 2012 to May 2012.
• The Extension Classes are open to G.C.E “A” Level students who have passed the Cambridge School Certificate or its equivalent in the appropriate science subject and who are not attending a secondary school.
• The Ministry will, however, also consider applications from students who are still attending a Secondary School but who wish to sit for the GCE ‘A Level in an additional Science Subject which they are not currently studying at their schools.
• The State Secondary Schools for running the classes will be chosen in the light of the number of applicants and their residential address.
• Each practical session of two (2) hours will be run at least once weekly and will start at 3.30 p.m. A total of twenty (20) practicals in each subject will be offered.
• Applications should be submitted online at http://citizen.gov.mu and selecting “Application for use of labs for Science Extension Classes” among the list of available e-services.
• Eligible applicants will subsequently be invited to call at the Ministry of Education & Human Resources, MITD House, Phoenix, to produce their birth and academic certificates and pay the enrolment fee of five hundred rupees per subject (Rs 500).
• Applicants under the age of twenty will also be requested to produce their School Leaving Certificate or, if still attending a Secondary School, certification from the Head of their school that they are not studying the subject applied for at their present school.
Note:
(i) Fees paid are neither refundable nor transferable.
(ii) The Ministry reserves the right not to run classes for a particular subject in case of an insufficient number of qualified applicants.
