Rogers & The MCB won the prestigious HR Excellence Awards 2011 among participating organisations while Sarawon Shashi Puddoo was awarded the HR Excellence Awards 2011 among participating HR professionals.
Rogers & Co Ltd and The Mauritius Commercial Bank Ltd are the winners of the “HR Excellence Awards 2011” among the participating organisations during the HR Excellence Awards ceremony organised on 1st December 2011 by the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC) under the aegis of the Ministry of Education and Human Resources. Mr. Sarawon Shashi Puddoo is the winner of the “HR Excellence Awards 2011” among the participating HR Professionals.
This prestigious award acknowledges the efforts of HR professionals and organisations towards innovative people management processes and effective recruitment and retention efforts that attract and engage talented employees in today’s highly dynamic economic sectors.
In his address, Minister of Education and Human Resources Dr Vasant Kumar Bunwaree, who was the chief guest at the awards ceremony, praised this laudable initiative of the HRDC. Minister Bunwaree said the Government is investing in education and continuous training so that every Mauritian can be empowered with the necessary skills to seek a good living. “This is our way of helping citizens to stay employable with the new knowledge and skills sets required to remain relevant in the job market. This is why provision has been made in the Budget 2012 to match skills with the requirements of the fast growing economy,” added the minister.
The category for HR Excellence Awards for 2011 received 90 applications across different sectors. The applications were gauged on an exhaustive set of parameters covering all areas related to HR strategy, recruitment, leadership development, and quality of work life. The applications were judged by an eminent panel headed by Mr Dan Bundhoo.
Commenting on the achievement of the participants, HRDC director Mr Raj Auckloo said the great effort made by the applicants from a range of sectors is promising because now HR professionals are increasingly seen as a strategic partner and have a seat in the boardroom. “This award in fact marks the success and accomplishments of our people managers, thus further emphasising the importance of putting human capital as a key business outcome,” said Raj Auckloo.
For his part, Dhananjay Ramful, chairman of HRDC, said that people are a critical asset in every organisation and a potential source of great value. “The manner in which they are managed is of great consequence and represents a strategically critical competence of the whole enterprise – not just HR,” he emphasised.
The HR Excellence Awards is a biennial event that showcases the best HR talents in Mauritius. It honours human resource professionals for their contributions to helping the development of high-performing and productive workforce within their respective companies.
