Harley-Davidson Mauritius has just made history by opening the first ever dealership of its type at the Kapu Kai complex in Grand Baie, in the northern coast of the island.

Kapu Kai is set to become the lifestyle destination of Mauritius with Harley-Davidson as its cornerstone.

A new Mecca, to welcome an ever growing brotherhood of free minded men and women seeking to enjoy the best on offer in easy-living island simplicity and style. The concept which at the outset seemed so different from the traditional Harley-Davidson® dealership was born out of a high level discussion between Harley-Davidson® EMEA Managing Director, Stuart Farrell and Jonid Dowlut who was to later become CEO of Harley Davidson Mauritius.

Their joint conclusion was that the spirit of freedom conjured by the iconic brand went well beyond the bricks and mortar of a typical dealership. “Our teams have since worked together to create what is a truly unique outlet, integrating local style whilst respecting Harley-Davidson® standards. In many ways, realization of the Harley-Davidson® Mauritius dealership is a demonstration of the open-mindedness and true spirit of partnership which exists between Harley-Davidson and its dealers,” says Jonid Dowlut.

The dealership is staffed by Harley-Davidson® trained sales and after-sales staff to ensure excellence in customer service. In addition to providing professional support to the existing group of dedicated Harley-Davidson riders, the new dealership will make Harley-Davidson motorcycles, accessories, motor clothes and fashion items easily accessible to the ever growing group of enthusiasts. It will carry a comprehensive range of motorcycles, parts, accessories, motor clothes and collectibles, including a unique range of Harley-Davidson Mauritius T-Shirts.

Harley Rentals will be introduced early in 2012. The rental activity, offering guided tours, will certainly be an exciting experience for tourists seeking to discover the incredible scenery the island has to offer in a truly unique manner.

Harley-Davidson Mauritius Dealership is managed by Paul Wren who is an avid enthusiast and experienced rider, well known and respected by the local biking community.

“Our aim is to make owning a Harley-Davidson motorcycle an enjoyable and hassle-free experience,” says Wren. “The brand itself has a very strong pull and the location will make it a lively centre and meeting place.”

Michael Carney of Harley-Davidson Africa, who was in Mauritius for the launch, says “Harley-Davidson Africa is delighted to see our joint vision come to fruition. This new store will certainly bring a unique flavour to the Harley experience and appeal to local riders as well as visitors to Mauritius. I am excited to see the new addition to our family flourish and congratulate our new partners at Harley-Davidson Mauritius on the opening of their new store”.

The opening of the Mauritius dealership is in line with Harley-Davidson Motor Company’s commitment to extending the brand experience and dealer network within the Southern Hemisphere.
